The Institute for Money, Technology and Financial Inclusion at the University of California, Irvine, was founded in 2008. Its mission is to foster a community of inquiry and practice on new forms of money and financial technology among the world’s poorest people. IMTFI awards fellowships to researchers in the developing world to conduct 12-month projects, many with a strongly qualitative component. The following pdf presents IMTFI’s Design Principles evolved from the first year.

If you are using this report or these design principles for any academic writing, design, or implemenation projects, please let us know! We would be interested in hearing about your work and having you share how our materials have been useful to you. Email us at imtfi@uci.edu.
